ROUX RETRACTOR • FIG-3 • 17.0CM • CE-CLASS I • ISO 13485:2016

Deep Liver and Retrohepatic Spatula for Exposure of the Vena Cava and Hepatic Veins in Liver and Transplantation Surgery

The ROUX RETRACTOR Type FIG-3 (17.0 cm) is a Class I medical device manufactured according to ISO 13485:2016. As the deepest and most curved variant of the Roux set, this retractor is specifically designed for the demanding retraction of the right liver lobe and exposure of the retrohepatic vena cava and hepatic veins. Its pronounced curvature provides access to the deepest structures of the upper abdomen.

Product Highlights:

✔ Manufactured in accordance with ISO 13485:2016
✔ CE Marked – Class I (Regulation (EU) 2017/745 – MDR)
Deepest Roux shape (FIG-3): Strongest curvature for maximum deep retraction
✔ Longest overall length of 17.0 cm for sufficient reach in depth
✔ High-quality, reinforced surgical stainless steel 1.4301 – for high stability under demanding conditions
✔ Deeply curved, wide spatula tip for secure hold and atraumatic contact with liver tissue
✔ Reinforced blade-shaft junction for increased load capacity
✔ Ergonomic, closed finger ring for powerful and controlled guidance
✔ Matte finish for glare-free work in depth
✔ Sterilizable and reusable

Benefits of the Roux Retractor FIG-3:

Optimal Exposure of the Retrohepatic Vena Cava: The deep curvature allows safe lifting of the right liver lobe to expose the inferior vena cava and the ostia of the hepatic veins for resections or vascular reconstructions.
Indispensable for Extended Liver Resections: Essential for the dorsal dissection during right hemihepatectomies, trisegmentectomies, or living donor operations to control the vascular connections to the vena cava.
Safe Retraction in Liver Transplantation: Important instrument during hepatectomy and implantation to ensure access to the vena cava and hepatic vein stumps.
Deep Exposure of the Right Upper Abdomen: Also suitable for retraction to expose the right adrenal gland, right upper renal pole, or the retroperitoneal junction.
Highest Stability in Depth: Construction and curvature provide stable retraction force even with voluminous livers or obese patients.

• Right adrenalectomy
• Complex revision procedures in the right upper abdomen and retroperitoneum

Critical Safety and Handling Information (Critical!):

FOR USE BY EXPERIENCED VISCERAL AND TRANSPLANT SURGEONS ONLY.
Extreme Caution with Vascular Structures: When retracting in immediate proximity to the vena cava and hepatic veins, there is a high risk of life-threatening vascular injuries. Retraction must be performed with utmost care and under direct vision.
Gradual Retraction Recommended: Ideally, retraction should first be attempted with FIG-1 and FIG-2 before using FIG-3 to gently prepare the tissue.
Caution with Tumor Involvement: If the vena cava or hepatic veins are infiltrated by tumor, retraction may be risky or impossible. An alternative strategy is required.
Regular Material Inspection: Due to the high load, inspect for deformations or cracks before each use, especially at the junction to the handle.
Thorough Cleaning: Intensive cleaning of the curved surface is required after liver or vascular procedures.
