Advantages of the OBWEGESER Retractor (upwards curved, 12x55mm):
• Maximum Surface Control with Upward Effect: The unique dimensions (12 mm wide, 55 mm tall) enable retraction of entire anatomical compartments (e.g., entire temporalis muscle, orbital contents, or midfacial soft tissues) superiorly for an unparalleled view of the deep skull base, orbital apex, or cavernous sinus access.
• Biomechanically Optimized Force Transmission: The special curvature and size allow for extremely stable yet precisely dosable upward retraction where conventional instruments reach their limits.
• Essential for Advanced Tumor and Reconstructive Surgery: Indispensable for extensive resections in the skull base, orbit, and midface region with subsequent complex reconstruction.
• Reduces Need for Additional Retractors: Its size provides such stable exposure that fewer assistant hands and instruments are required.
• Precision Tool for Borderline Situations: Enables the experienced surgeon to perform procedures that would otherwise be impossible or extremely risky due to insufficient exposure.

• Decompression of the orbital apex and optic canal
CRITICAL APPLICATION NOTES:
• FOR USE BY HIGHLY EXPERIENCED SURGEONS IN CRANIOFACIAL AND SKULL BASE SURGERY ONLY.
• INSTRUMENT WITH EXTREME LEVERAGE. Uncontrolled movement can lead to catastrophic injury to the internal carotid artery, optic nerve, or cranial nerves.
• PRE-OPERATIVE INSPECTION MANDATORY: Before each use, the instrument must undergo visual and manual inspection for bends, cracks, or material fatigue. Any deformity is an exclusion criterion.
• APPLICATION: Requires special training and experience. Often requires bimanual control by two surgeons.
• CONTRAINDICATION: Absolutely contraindicated for standard procedures or by inexperienced personnel.
• REPROCESSING: Due to its size, careful, documented individual reprocessing is necessary.
• DISCARD POLICY: The instrument has a defined maximum service life. Upon reaching it or upon any suspicion of damage, it must be discarded immediately and permanently.
