Monumental Specialized Hook for Maximum Soft Tissue Exposure in Complex Craniomaxillofacial and Skull Base Surgery
The OBWEGESER Retractor downwards curved, 14x70mm, 24.0 cm is a Class I medical device according to ISO 13485:2016. This exceptionally dimensioned, monumental variant with an extremely wide (14 mm) and very tall (70 mm) tip is a specialized instrument for the most demanding procedures in oral, maxillofacial, and skull base surgery. It enables powerful and controlled retraction of the largest soft tissue volumes during the deepest approaches.

Advantages of the OBWEGESER Retractor (14x70mm, downwards curved):
• Maximum Surface Control at Depth: The unique dimensions (14 mm wide, 70 mm tall) enable retraction of entire anatomical compartments (e.g., entire temporalis muscle, complete cheek) for an unparalleled view of the deep skull base, infratemporal fossa, or the entire mandibular ramus.
• Biomechanically Optimized Force Transmission: The special curvature and size allow for extremely stable yet precisely dosable force application where other instruments fail.
• Essential for Advanced Tumor and Reconstructive Surgery: Indispensable for extensive resections in the maxilla, mandible, and skull base region with subsequent complex reconstruction.
• Reduces Need for Additional Retractors and Assistants: Its size provides such stable exposure that fewer instruments and assistant hands are required.
• Precision Tool for Borderline Situations: Enables the experienced surgeon to perform procedures that would otherwise be impossible or extremely risky due to insufficient exposure.

CRITICAL APPLICATION NOTES:
• FOR USE BY A HANDFUL OF WORLD-RENOWNED EXPERTS IN CMF AND SKULL BASE SURGERY ONLY.
• INSTRUMENT WITH EXTREME LEVERAGE. Uncontrolled movement can lead to catastrophic injury to the internal carotid artery, facial nerve, or skull base.
• PRE-OPERATIVE INSPECTION MANDATORY: Before each use, the instrument must undergo visual and manual inspection for bends, cracks, or material fatigue. Any deformity is an exclusion criterion.
• APPLICATION: Requires special training and experience. Often requires bimanual control by two surgeons.
• CONTRAINDICATION: Absolutely contraindicated for standard procedures or by inexperienced personnel.
• REPROCESSING: Due to its size, careful, documented individual reprocessing is necessary. No automated cleaning without pre-cleaning.
• DISCARD POLICY: The instrument has a defined maximum service life (cycle count). Upon reaching it or upon any suspicion of damage, it must be discarded immediately and permanently. Repair is impossible.
