Wide-Surface Pelvic Spatula for Maximal Exposure and Tissue Protection in Advanced Oncological and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
The HEANEY RETRACTOR Type FIG-3 (82 mm x 28 mm / 27.0 cm) is a Class I medical device manufactured according to ISO 13485:2016. This largest and widest variant of the Heaney series provides an ultimate contact surface for the gentle and highly stable retraction of the urinary bladder and prevesical space. Designed for the most complex procedures where maximum visibility and protection of sensitive structures are critical.
Product Highlights:
✔ Manufactured in accordance with ISO 13485:2016
✔ CE Marked – Class I (Regulation (EU) 2017/745 – MDR)
✔ Maximum Heaney shape (Fig-3): Widest and most stable bladder spatula (82 mm width) for comprehensive retraction
✔ 90° angulation with a blade height of 28 mm for deep pelvic access with high stability
✔ Overall length of 27.0 cm for excellent leverage and control
✔ High-quality, reinforced surgical stainless steel 1.4301 – for enduring stability under sustained load

Benefits of the Heaney Retractor FIG-3:
• Ultimate Bladder Retraction and Protection: The 82 mm wide blade surface reliably protects a maximum section of the anterior and lateral bladder wall from injury by sharp instruments or thermocoagulation.
• Excellent Exposure of the Entire Prevesical Space: Provides superior overview of the uterine artery origins, parametrial spaces, and lateral pelvic wall, which is crucial for oncological radicality.
• Optimal Pressure Distribution and Reduced Tissue Trauma: The large surface area minimizes pressure per unit area on the delicate bladder wall, thereby reducing the risk of ischemia or postoperative bladder dysfunction.
• Ideal for Difficult Anatomical Conditions: Particularly valuable in obese patients, with extensive tumor growth, or after multiple previous surgeries, where orientation is difficult and the risk for complications is increased.
• Indispensable for Maximal Procedures: The instrument of choice for ultraradical hysterectomies, pelvic exenterations, complex reconstructions after radiotherapy, and extensive endometriotic procedures.

Critical Safety and Handling Information (Critical!):
• FOR USE BY HIGHLY EXPERIENCED GYNECOLOGICAL ONCOLOGISTS, URO-GYNECOLOGICAL OR ONCOLOGICAL UROLOGISTS ONLY.
• Precise Placement Under Visual Control Mandatory: The large width increases the risk of unintentionally compressing the ureters or iliac vessels laterally. Placement must be under direct vision and with precise knowledge of deep pelvic anatomy.
• Conscious and Dosed Force Application: Even with this stable instrument, force must be applied in a controlled and even manner across the entire width. One-sided pressure can lead to a rotational movement with risk of injury.
• Particular Caution with Pretreated Tissue: In patients after radiotherapy or with severe endometriosis, the tissue may be friable. Retraction must be performed with particular care.
• Strict Material Inspection: Before each use, inspect for deformations or material fatigue, as the wide blade can be subjected to high bending forces.
• Thorough Manual Cleaning: The broad surface requires careful cleaning to remove all tissue residues.
