ST. MARKS RETRACTOR • FIG-4 • 33.0CM • CE-CLASS I • ISO 13485:2016

Wide-Flared, Double-Ended Retractor for Simultaneous and Stable Exposure of the Anal Canal and Perineum in Proctological and Perineal Surgery

The ST. MARKS RETRACTOR Type FIG-4 (33.0 cm) is a Class I medical device manufactured according to ISO 13485:2016. This special, double-ended flared retractor features two wide, blunt blades oriented in opposite directions and is designed for simultaneous, symmetrical retraction of both sides of the anal canal or perineum. It provides excellent central exposure with minimal assistant requirement.

Product Highlights:

✔ Manufactured in accordance with ISO 13485:2016
✔ CE Marked – Class I (Regulation (EU) 2017/745 – MDR)
Double-ended St. Marks shape (Fig-4): Two wide-flared, blunt blades in opposite directions for symmetrical retraction
✔ Optimal length of 33.0 cm for good leverage and control in depth
✔ High-quality Surgical Stainless Steel 1.4301 – rust-proof, corrosion-resistant and tissue-friendly
✔ Fully atraumatic design: All blade edges and tips are heavily rounded and high-gloss polished
✔ Central, ergonomic finger ring for balanced and stable guidance
✔ Matte finish to reduce light glare
✔ Sterilizable and reusable

Benefits of the St. Marks Retractor FIG-4:

Symmetrical and Stable Exposure: Enables simultaneous and even retraction of both sides of the operative field (e.g., left and right anal canal halves), resulting in an excellently centered and stable visual field.
Reduced Assistant Need: Can replace the work of two assistants with single hooks, simplifies setup, and increases efficiency.
Ideal Centering and Overview: Perfect for procedures requiring a clear view of the midline, such as lateral internal sphincterotomy, excision of midline fissures, or certain fistulotomies.
Maximum Tissue Sparing: The wide, blunt blade surface distributes pressure evenly and minimizes the risk of mucosal or skin lesions.
Optimized for Lithotomy or Similar Positioning: Particularly effective with patients in lithotomy or jackknife position, where symmetrical retraction is advantageous.

• Marsupialization of perianal abscesses
• Diagnostic and therapeutic proctoscopy requiring retraction
• Certain reconstructive procedures on the anal canal

Important Safety and Handling Information:

FOR USE BY SURGICAL PROFESSIONALS WITH EXPERIENCE IN PROCTOLOGICAL PROCEDURES ONLY.
Even Force Application: The retractor requires balanced and even force on both sides to avoid asymmetric retraction or tilting.
Careful Insertion: The instrument should be carefully inserted into the anal canal under vision and then gently opened to avoid forcible spreading.
Not Suitable for Extreme Spreading Forces: The design is intended for moderate, controlled retraction, not for extreme forcible spreading, which could lead to muscle or mucosal tears.
Thorough Cleaning: Due to the complex shape with two blades, particularly thorough cleaning of all surfaces and angles after each use is required.
Symmetry Inspection: Before each use, check the symmetry of both blades and the stability of the central connection.
