Advantages of the KOCHER Retractor (4 blunt prongs):
• Maximum Surface Adhesion with Zero Trauma Risk: Four blunt prongs create an exceptionally large contact area, enabling secure retraction while simultaneously eliminating any risk of puncture, cut, or perforation injuries.
• Optimal Pressure Distribution: Retraction pressure is evenly distributed across a large tissue area, effectively preventing pressure necrosis, hematoma formation, and tissue crushing.
• Perfect for Vulnerable Structures: Designed for work in immediate proximity to bowel, major vascular trunks, spleen, liver, and other parenchymal organs.
• Stable Exposure: Enables the safe holding open and presentation of extensive surgical fields (e.g., the entire upper abdomen or the pelvic cavity) over extended periods.
• Biologically Oriented Surgery: Supports the principles of gentle surgery and can thus contribute to reduced postoperative adhesions and improved healing.

Fields of Application:
• Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery (liver resections, Whipple procedure)
• Colorectal surgery with total mesorectal excision (TME)
• Major urological and gynecological tumor surgery
• Transplant surgery (liver, kidney transplantation)
• Revision surgery for extensive intra-abdominal adhesions
Important Application Notes:
• FOR USE BY EXPERIENCED SURGICAL PERSONNEL ONLY.
• Atraumatic high-performance instrument. Nevertheless requires a sensitive feel for measured pressure to prevent pressure damage.
• Before each use, subject all four prongs to a thorough visual inspection for absolute smoothness, roundness, and structural integrity.
• Not suitable for dissecting or mobilizing tissue. Designed purely for retraction and presentation.
• Enables the safest form of retraction in the most critical anatomical regions but is not designed for extremely dense or scarred tissue.
• During reprocessing, ensure meticulous cleaning between prongs.
• Discard immediately in case of any damage, bending, or wear of the polished prong surface.
