• Caution is advised even with blunt prongs: Excessive spring tension can lead to crushing, hematomas, or ischemia of the grasped tissue. Tension should always be applied minimally and sufficiently.
• Especially during long procedures, regularly inspect the retraction site and reposition the hook if necessary.
• The symmetrical construction requires even placement on the tissue to prevent one-sided slippage.
• Replace the instrument if prongs are deformed, corroded, or if the spring mechanism is faulty.
