Long, Three-Pronged Deep Retractor for Precise and Powerful Retraction in Narrow Surgical Fields

The JANSEN RETRACTOR is a medical device of CE Class I according to ISO 13485:2016. With its characteristic narrow design, symmetrical sharp 3x3 prongs, and remarkable length of 10.0 cm, it is specifically designed for deep, pinpoint, and powerful tissue retraction in confined or funnel-shaped surgical sites. Its design provides maximum holding power with minimal lateral space occupation.

Product Highlights:

✔ Certified according to ISO 13485:2016
✔ CE marking Class I (Directive 93/42/EEC)
✔ Narrow, long construction for deep and narrow approaches
✔ Precise sharp 3x3 prongs for concentrated, deep purchase
✔ Significant length: 10.0 cm for outstanding reach into depth
✔ High-quality Stainless Steel 1.4301 – rust-proof and biocompatible
✔ Verified biocompatibility according to ISO 10993
✔ Robust spring mechanism with high tensile force
✔ Sterilizable and reusable (autoclavable)

Advantages of the Jansen Retractor:

Deep Access in Confined Spaces: The narrow, long form (10.0 cm) ideally penetrates funnel-shaped or deep, narrow wound cavities (e.g., in spinal or skull base surgery) without excessively blocking the visual field or workspace for other instruments.
Concentrated Holding Power: The three sharp prongs on each side grasp the tissue in a focused and deep manner, providing extremely secure hold even on the smallest area – ideal for retracting fascia, periosteum, or dense muscle.
Minimal Obstruction: Offers significantly less lateral extension compared to wider rakes (e.g., 4x4), improving visibility and space for dissection at depth.
Proven in Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery: A classic instrument for laminar approaches, foraminotomies, and other procedures requiring precise retraction within a narrow canal.
Strong Spring for Demanding Traction: The powerful spring generates sufficient tension for reliable retraction even at depth.

Technical Specifications:

Model: JANSEN Retractor, sharp
Type: Long, narrow spring retractor with 3x3 prongs
Total Length: 10.0 cm
Prongs: Symmetrical, sharp; 3 prongs on each side (3x3)
Material: Stainless Steel 1.4301 (high-gloss polished)
Mechanism: High-strength, long spring for deep placement
Special Feature: Standard instrument for deep and narrow approaches in Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, and Deep Cavity Surgery
Risk Class: I according to Directive 93/42/EEC
Reprocessing: Fully autoclavable; cleaning the narrow spaces between prongs requires special care

Areas of Application:

• Spinal Surgery: Laminectomies, hemilaminectomies, foraminotomies, dorsal instrumentation
• Neurosurgery: Craniotomies, skull base approaches, microneurosurgical procedures
• Deep orthopedic approaches on extremities
• Upper cervical spine surgery
• Special approaches in Otolaryngology (ENT)

Important Safety Notes:
FOR USE BY SPECIALIZED NEUROSURGICAL, SPINAL SURGICAL, OR ORTHOPEDIC PERSONNEL ONLY.
Critical Pre-Use Inspection: Due to its length and sharp, concentrated prongs, a precise inspection for bending of the shaft and intact, sharp prong tips is mandatory before each use.
EXTREME CAUTION DURING PLACEMENT: The sharp prongs are designed for deep, focal purchase. Imprecise placement near neural structures (nerve roots, dura), blood vessels, or within the spinal canal can cause catastrophic injury.
• The long, slender construction makes the instrument susceptible to bending if lateral forces are applied. Do not use as a lever.
• The high tensile force of the spring must be applied consciously and in a measured manner to avoid cutting through tissue or causing pressure damage.
• Reprocessing the long, narrow spaces between prongs is challenging and requires a validated protocol.
Discard immediately upon the slightest deformation or damage.
