Needle holders are designed to guide surgical needles to make a wound suture. Needle holders that have a locking device, such as the Mayo-Hegar needle holder or Crile-Wood needle holder, fix the surgical needle firmly in the grained mouth. Each time the tissue is pierced, the surgeon has to open and grasp the closure.
Needle holder without locking like the Tönnis needle holder fix the needle like a pair of pliers with pure muscle strength. The different handle shapes of the needle holder give the surgeon the option of gripping the rings or by hand around the branches. The latter is provided by our Mathieu needle holder. By the way, we have all known needle holder types.
